Real Talk

This isn’t a post about a perfect, fairytale marriage. I don’t want to offer a polished highlight reel or pretend we’ve got it all figured out. We don’t. This is just a compilation of several reflections I’ve combined about our personal story…our friendship, partnership, teamwork, and what I’ve learned from twenty years of evolving and growing with another imperfect human. This isn’t a love story. It’s a “like” story about two swim buddies who decided to “ruin the friendship.

I don’t subscribe to the belief that men are easier to work with, females create drama, or girls are harder than boys. I don’t see other women as the enemy. I don’t see other women as my competition.

I’m trying to find a balance that feels almost impossible in today's climate. I don’t want to be shamed into silence, but I also don’t want to sound morally superior. I want to speak from my values and live with integrity while creating a space where others feel safe enough to do the same. This is why I’m stepping back from spaces where the goal is dominance instead of connection. I have no desire to shame those who are still learning. I am one of them.
